what do you guys consider minimum for crocea or maxima?

so my current tank is a 28 with 1 crocea clam under 250w of metal halide

i have a biocube 14 that i never setup and ive been playing around with an idea of setting it up as a reef tank and possibly using it to house small baby clams for a while, not a lot of them but i guess just one at a time... kind of like a quarantine tank. i wanted to get a pfo minipendant for 150w and a pfo ballast for the tank

i am also in the process of getting stuff together to upgrade to a larger tank, probably a 90-125, most likely 90.. so ill end up putting the clams in there

ive seen people put maximas and croceas in 14s with 70w of metal halide like the sunpods, assides from the calcium consumption, would this be enough for them? i always thought minimum would have been like 150w for them


if not, ill probaby use the 28 as quarantine, but itll have to be for fish, corals, and clams

id say minimum get a 150w mh,i dont think a 70w is good enough to keep clams happy.i have a tank similar to what you want to set up and it houses 9 clams so it can be done.stable parameters,feedings,and strong lighting are keys to clams IMO.

hey thanks for the feedback. i think im going to go ahead and go for that setup from pfo and try to make my own legs to support the fixture from acrylic
