what do you keep your salinity at

mine is 1.022 is that ok i hear people go to 1.026 i aways figured if your between 1.020 and 1.026 you should be good what is the advantage of being in the higher rang or does it all depend what your going to keep in your tank
 
Natural sea water averages about 1.025, therefore corals specifically have adapted to salinity in this range. Although short term they can tolerate exposure to different salinities, long term they stress, waste away or succumb to disease.

Fish can tolerate lower salinities because they have a more adaptable method of regulating osmotic pressure.
 
A little LFS near me, possibly the cleanest I've seen, says he keeps his at 1.024? I'm at 1.026. I think he's just a better overall keeper. The books seem to favor the higher.
