After seeing Mayoboy getting back into the hobby, I thought it would be cool to share with each other why we like the hobby, or what is it about the hobby that you like the most.

Anyone care to share?

i love setting up new systems, the whole process, but i like growing coral and trading corals getting to meet new people and help each other out, since i work crazy shifts i don't get out to much. neat seeing all the inverts corals and fish move around, saltwater reef tanks have so much life in them you can never get bored watching them, i watch mine with lights off and flashlight checking out all the critters and giant worms i didn't know i had. The best part is when someone comes over to visit they are always at an ahhhhhhhh when they see tank and can't believe that all those corals are inverts and not plants, and than to really get there attention throw some brine shrimp and silversides in and watch serpent and brittle starfish fish come creaping out to eat and maroon clown fish feeding both anenomes. i have a 125 in living room and a 75 gallon reef right next to my computer desk in computer room. All this talking about my tanks makes me want to go out and by more corals but dang lfs not open till noon. I need meds for this hobby cause it is very addicting, I'm officially a reef addict and i have no problem admitting it.

Or the end of this thread!

 :mixed:  :mixed:

The smell of skimmate in the morning, ****ed off sps, and having a predisposition of owning tanks that crack ;)

I love the planning and construction. The challanges of "making it right" when it's done. I love making things for the tank, taking apart pumps and cleaning them. I love talking with people that have the same interests but what I REALLY love is sitting in front of the tank with a cold beer and watching it. I lose hours and hours of my life that way and its cheaper than a shrink, I think or so I tell myself :)

At first I didn't want SW or a freshwater tank for that matter. I never kept a fish that wasn't in my freezer. After the initial sticker shock. I fell in love with the water movement, the swimming motion and the variety of color and design. Than the challenge of keeping ocean fish in captivity became an obsession.

I like going to Robs place and helping him drink those beers. :D

And I like your company so see, it's all good. You're welcome ANYTIME!

I love watching the tank, the movement is so very soothing. Keeping things that grow well and all of the learning involved. Mostly though, I am finding I like the people I have met and some of the friends I have made.

I like having this little planet that I can play GOD with . I have all the control to decide who comes who leaves . When the sun comes up and down . What the temp is . How salty the water is total control . I enjoy watching to see all the life grow or to remove things that I want to are just move things to different spots in my little underwater world .

Its just nice and relaxing to feel as if you have control over a little piece of something .

The smell of fresh saltwarter mixing, and the interaction of my inhabitants, and all the stuf DST said too. :)

The beauty it brings in to my life. It is so relaxing, I also enjoy all the new people and friends I have met over the years. I like the feeling of accomplishment when I finally get things to work out.
