What do you think about the Powersweep pumps?

Thinking about getting a couple of these to move some water around in my little 20gal. lg tank.

Does any one know if they are any good?

Thanks

From what I've read is if they get slightly dirty they stop sweeping. For something that small I would get a maxijet w/ hydor flo and a K1. They still require regular cleaning, but I have seen some nasty coralline encrusted ones still work.

It's been working very well for my 15 gallon reef for many years. Yes, it needs a periodic cleaning, but not bad at all. I put all my powerheads in weak HCl solution and they are spic and span in 20 minutes.

I HATED the one I had in my 16! I Just went with 2 hydor koralia nanos put them on the back directed slightly up and had great flow!!

I had one in my 20 gal in long time ago and it sometimes stops sweeping either from the coraline or a malfunction in it.

had two and the concept was great but they were nothing but trouble for me.

Best feeling I had about em was when I threw them in the dumpster.

I have 2 and love them for water movement and changing sweep pattern. Yes you have to clean them more often they do more !!!

Okay, seems to be about 50-50. I guess since they seem to be the least expensive thing to move water, i will give them a try.

Thanks Everybody.

Although I do like my powersweep in my 15G, I actually like Koralia powerheads a lot. Have you looked at the smaller one of those like Koralia nano? Koralia is known to have a relatively wide flow pattern.
