How valuable is your time? I got my complete 400G setup for 2500 used. I just had to move it all myself along with a few friends.

You could save a lot by buying used and doing some of the work yourself. That is unless you have that much cash just laying around waiting to be spent.

I'd be carful about having a tall stand. With a tall tank and stand, it's going to be hard to get in it to clean it. I know, one of my 400's is 3' tall and the other one is 4' tall. Put that on a 3' tall stand and your climbing up a ladder. Plus you can't reach the bottom of even a 3' tall tank.

It depends if that is what you want ot not. I am sure that if it is perfect fit for you than it would be a better deal than buying all the parts sepertly and the work of setting it up.
However if you want a longer shallower tank to bigger skimmer or lower stand than now is the time to make the system you want. In my eyes $14500 is a good chunk of change for a fish tank and would more than a great start on the tank that you do want.
But if this is it than go for it.

Thanks guys for the info, actually, this tank will be setup on a brand new house that i am moving...i wish i have the time to do it myself and also i learn from my lesson before buying used equipment might save big bucks but there is no guarantee that it will last especially i have engineered floor on my new house. I cant afford to have something broken and mess up the floor, it will cost me more.

i believe having a big sump and two rs250 will minimize my cleaning on the tank. I am planning to put good corals and few fish. Will post pictures if there will start putting up together.

The reason why i have it that tall is my floor and ceiling is 9ft tall. Will big rocks in the middle of three side. Anyone could see it completely. Before i have a 36inch stand and 30 aga....we will see how it goes...wish me luck...gave a deposit for the tank

By the way, the system also will run on 2 1/3 hp motor. Also the 200 gallon sump will be outside the house not under the tank itself.

Don't count on it. I have 2 sumps, a 30 and a 90, a skimmer that can handle probably 2000 G tank, a large swimming pool canister filter, ozone injected into the skimmer and I still have to clean the glass at least once a week. Their are nutrients in the tank, no matter what you do, that will feed the alage.

you might want to check with the tank manufacture to see what the warrantee is on that aquarium. 1" acrylic is not very thick for a tank that is 42" tall. a friend of mine has a 33" tall tank that is made with 1.5" thick acrylic. your tank will be almost a foot taller and half of an inch thinner. i dont recomend using less than 1.5" acrylic for a tank that tall. i would use 1.75" just to be on the safe side. thats alot of water to be holding back.

My 7'L X 2.5'W X 3'T 400 G has 1" front and back with 3/4" sides. It was home built and has been running just fine for over 4 years. It does have stainless steel screws in the edges as well as guseting in all corners.

My 8'L X 2'W X 4'T 400G has 1 1/4" front, back and sides with 1" bottom. It has dual overflows, one on each end so that it is a see thru tank. I'm not sure who manufactured it as I got it used. But it is a heavy beast, about 700+ pounds just for the empty tank.
