what do you think of this chiller

Hi reefdna, it looks like a deal. You could probably use a 1/4 horse, use the balance to by a couple of heaters. TinMan
 
I appreciate the advice so far. From what I have read I will need at least a 1/2HP chiller being around 280 gals and kept in the garage.

fliger- I couldn't find a 1/2 hp unit on there. Does Techo make one? What chiller do you have now?

What types are everyone else running?

They have a 1/3 model, take a look at the drop-down ratings. Teco's are supposedly much more efficient. Also relatively silent and dependable. I've never used one, just from what I've read. These are their ratings -

130 Gallons ( 27 F Pull down )
260 Gallons ( 18 F Pull down )
525 gallons ( 9 F Pull down )

I'm using a Peltech Peltier chiller/heater and love it. Its more $$ upfront but dead silent and extremely energy efficient. Also very small.

PM "Typhon". He runs one on his 300 and likes it. I had asked him yesterday - if my current chiller can't keep up with a fan, I'm ugoing to the Teco or a larger Peltech.
