Im having trouble deciding between these two lights. What do you recomend? for easier corals. I want to be able suspend the light off the tank with legs rather than hang it too. Can i set the t5 fixture on the tank itself. BTW I have a 46gal bow its 36 in long

Metal H

T5

Im looking at the 4 bulb T5. After I stock it with the bulbs its looking like the T5 is going to be about 100$ cheaper. Do you think the Metal H. will be better in the long run.

I also have the 46 gallon bow-tank...I started out with the standard 36" 40 watt fluorescent that came with it and quickly found out my one and only coral needed better light.

I went with the Corarlife 150W MH "Clamp-On" model. The light is great and the "shimmer" effect it creates cannot be beat. The only problem with the set-up was the bracket in the middle of the tank(it cast a shadow right down the center of the tank with just the MH.) I moved the 40 watt fluorescent fixture as far back as it can go and angled the MH so that it covers the rest of the tank. Since adding the MH my coral looks 100% better, although I still have a slight shadow in the middle of the tank.

I am new to "reef tanks" and the various lighting options is something new also, however the current set-up I have seems to be working....Good luck...
