What do you use for mixing vats?

I have been mixing saltwater in a Rubbermaid storage container, but my wife wants me to get things out of her way. Since I'm not happy unless she is happy, I'll look at my options. I looked online and see some people are using Rubbermaid trash cans in the 35 - 55 gallon range. I have thought about getting one with wheels that I can roll out of the way, but I would like to know what kind of setup everyone in the club uses to see if that is the best option. You guys have been there and tried different things, so I thought I'd be wise and learn from all of you.

Thanks,
Marcus

I use a 20 gal. Cooler already on wheels with a rolling handle and a bottomdrain to release the water into the jugs. Powerheads stick to the walls real well and if you close the top my water stays right at 78 degrees. It has worked great for me. Another thing good about it is you can see all the impurities in your salt because the cooler walls are white. I have used 5 different salts and finally found one that does not leave residue on the walls of the cooler.

I bought a rolling meda cart meant for tvs or projectors. It can handle the weight of an 18 gallon rubbermaid and it has a built in power strip for the pump, heater, etc. I mix my water back in the laundry room out of the way and then wheel the whole thing in by the tank when I'm ready to do a water change.

Then it's easy to move it back out of the way again.

I just went over this with Richard & Andy from MemFish.

If you need portability, then none of this post will apply to you, as my water storage system is not movable; but "we", (read: "I") just ended up bagging the whole notion of the Brute containers, given their bulky size, and simply went with Std. aquariums.

And forget for a second, the whole “sterility issue”, and potential leaching of deadly toxins back into the RO water over time from the plasticizers from a NON-potable (which is pronunced: \pô-t-bl\ Richard) water container.

Given that SPACE was an issue for me in the near-by “Sump closet", it was actually more space efficient to accommodate all the tank equipment, by using 20 gallon long AGA tanks for the RO reservoir and Salt mixing vats.

...just an option.

Little tanks aren't really that much more expensive (how long will you have this set-up??), once your talking about $20 for the smaller Brute continer, IMO.

I use a rubbermaid container that stays in our kitchen. The wife is not crazy about it, but she doesn't fuss about it either.

That one of them big mushrooms that you eat?

Nah ... I think its the outhouses at the fair. Don't they call them potables?

I run my ro/di water into 5 gallon buckets in my husband's bathroom upstairs and no he is NOT thrilled. I make sure and place the bucket into his shower in case it runs over and I also mix the salt in the bathroom as well, all done in 5 gal containers. My largest tank is a 38 gallon. I may have to explore the wheeled cooler option. It sounds doable and should fit into the shower.

i just use toilet water.

wokka wokka.

nah. i use cheap lowe's trashcans and have for over a year and a half. no problems so far.
