I am wondering what super glue gel do you use to attach frags/frag plugs to your rock in your display tank?? Or do you attach to your display rock?? I normally use Duro super glue gel because it was think enough to attach plugs underwater, but I can't find any. Found some at Ace, but it was $2.29 for 2oz and i was used to paying $2.00 for 4oz at Walmart.

Super Glue Brand Gel!!!!! $.99 @ BigLots for a 2 pack... They also have a bigger pack that is cheaper sometimes at HD... I'll also use AquaMend epoxy @ HD... :)

BTW this thread is perfect because I was going to start a new one about how much that Free glue SUCKS!!! At least the price was right... ;)

I agree with you-- I told you that when I came over your house. But i didn't want to just put them on blast like you just did :) I did not like the superglue brand, but I only used it once. It did not work well for attaching plugs/rocks to rock, especially underwater. I guess I will try it again.

The key for attaching underwater is using a glue that doesn't form a thick skin too quick underwater and breaking that skin by rotating/moving the frag/plug when you are trying to attach it (it's hard to explain in words without seeing it). As you know I really like Duro. The 0.07 oz tubes from Kmart have a lot less than the old 0.1 tubes from Wally world though:(

I always attach frags to spacer rocks/plugs so I can move them easily if I need to after they have encrusted.

That's my method too and the reason I like Duro too. The others were not thick enough or did not work nearly as well if at all like Duro. I tried Wally (3 of the 4 in Knoxville), ace hardware, HD, Lowes, and kmart, and could not find any. Oh well, I am trying loctite and Ace hardware brand.

Big Lots, FTW! Right next to the dollar theater...two birds with one stone.

Hey Chris, "Pinch and Twist" that's my motto. :)

I won't mention any names, but we actually have an LFS here that discourages super glue because it "prevents corals from getting nutrients from the rocks". :(

This truly saddens me.

Oh, and I use the Dollar Store stuff, too. :)

So what, you just place them on the rocks and wait for them to attach themselves without the flow or fish or CUC knocking them over??? I mean, they grow over the glue and eventually attach to the Rock. So no frag plugs either?

Apparently so! :)

A good friend of mine (who also is not in MTRC, he's a diving buddy) was telling me about how this particular LFS kind of freaked out on him when he started talking to them about using glue on plugs. Twas not good! He said it took a lot for him not to bust out laughing.

I mean, if 1+1=2, then this must be true. they start teaching word association in preschool.

Whats worse, Mel, is that my info wasn't from the internet! It was given in person!!! :eek2:

As was mine... It was some random girl I was talking to in CR one day a year or so ago... Haven't seen her since... Oh well... :p

Locktight Superglue Gel. Costs more then the dolar store stuff but it has the handles on the sides that you squeez. This gets alot more glue out of the tube. Can also use it multiple times without drying up.

My already rather weak faith in humanity just faded ever so slightly... :o
