What do you use to enrich rotifers?

I use rotigrow plus to feed my rotifers but I have heard that some people use another product as well to enrich the rotifers even more. What product do you all use for this?
Thank you.

Is there any thang wrong with getting rg complete and putting selcon in the bottle mix in

Yes. Don't do it. RGcomplete is designed as a stand alone and shouldn't have anything mixed in it.

It's also an enrichment, as it RG PLus. With both products there is really no need to enrich. Algal enrichments are far better then lipid enrichments.

So are you saying that there is no added benefit to enriching the rotifers with Selcon or a similar product?

For clownfish, yes. For cod, Tuna, etc... no.

You need to know the fatty acid ratio the works best for your chosen species of culture. If your species needs a modified ratio, we have enrichments to accompany RGcomplete/RG Plus. But clownfish don't need any enrichment beyond what RG provides.

People falsely believe rotifers are empty shells and all nutrition is found in their stomach. Our, and our partner hatcheries, have proven that myth to be false. They indeed do pick up on what you feed, so if you feed a product such as RG, there is no need to enrich for many species, clowns included.

I used RG complete when I first ordered my rotifers. Once i ran out I attempted to use DT's phyto. Well that didnt work out so well. I went from a heavy roti count to a poor roti count and i used way to much phyto to keep the water tinted. Not to mention I lost all my clown fry. I think my loss was due to not enough rotifers to feed the fry, in combination with to strong of a light. Either way i ordered another bottle of RG complete and my rotifer count is booming again. (also changed the light)

Now im sure there are other comparable brands out there but im happy with RG and a firm believer "if it aint broke, dont fix it"

I should also add that I went from 2, 5 gallon buckets to 1. My 1 gallon bucket is enough to support my breeding. I went over kill at first and it was waste of time. My maint on my bucket is ill gently pour the water into a clean bucket, take the roti bucket and clean it from top to bottom and pour the roti water back into the roti bucket. I feed it once a day and if I dont have to harvest, ill still harvest anyways just to keep the population nice and strong.
