What does Nemo do if his host dies?

I have a Maroon Clown that uses a small rock with 4-6 Hairy Mushrooms as his host. The mushrooms are fine..... he has used them for a couple months now.

Just curious...... what would the clown do if/when the host dies?

Does he find another host? Or does he commit suicide?

What about in the wild? Would Clowns move on to try and find a new host? Would they try to evict another clown from their home?

They would move on for sure to find a new host. As far as evicting another clown, that is a great question, I am going to check into that and post later.

In the wild they hover near the anemone but not in it because of the dominant pair. When danger is around or at night, they would go into the anemone. They get chase out again when the danger is gone. This also happen in my tank.
If they are unable to do this, they got eaten.

Well Hairy mushrooms seem to be the only coral my maroon can't kill. They are thriving with her in them.

yah same here...

my clown has been able to roll the rock over on its side... so the hairy mushrooms are face down in the sand

he will put his rear tail in the sand and then swim in one spot so he scatters sand everywhere... and then he will take some sand in his mouth... swim on the other side of the tank and spit it out

so now i have a crater about 4" around the hairy mushroom rock... and i have to do daily checkups on that rock to make sure it hasnt rolled over due to having the sand beneath it displaced

Well...
In Nemo they would have a very nice funeral, all of the fish in the community would attend, and then they would have a...

Burial at sea!!

Sorry, just had to post this!
