Well, tabulate species take on a characteristic colony growth form over time that isn't always as evident while they are smaller (like in our tanks). In wild, large colonies, it is very distinctive. Take a look at this site to see the differences: www.coralsee.org

Nice tabling acro shot and comparison on the left spire growth like staghorn long skeleton on the right growth is spread out short skeleton plate like growth like eeflo ..Nice tank
