Use Blue Vet Red Slime remover. Worked perfectly on my 75 G. Make sure you have plenty of flow too. Nothing east CB. It is poisonous to live stock. They generally wont tough it.

the sand sticks to it like crazy! I feel like I am taking out a huge chunk of my sandbed when I try and remove it manually (past experience)

Not much for our home aquaria, but plenty out there that eat it.
I've heard reports of queen conches feeding on it, although mine never has. Also certain pods will.

The Slime remover won't hurt the tank. Just folor direction and make sure it is dissolved well. I put mine in the intake of my sump and it stirs it up really well. I haven't had one spec of Cyano for at least a month from 1 dose. Fish are fine, corals are fine, other inverts are fine. Works like a charm.

Oh...best thing is to make sire you get as much out as possible before you add the Red Slime remover. It works so much better.

FYI, I've used Chemi-clean in the past to remove cyno from my tank and saw no ill effects from doing so, BUT just so ya'll are 100% aware, cyno is bacteria, and the chemicals used to rid the tank of it, target bacteria.....beneficial bacteria, harmfull bacteria....it won't discriminate against either or. If you don't have a skimmer as well, i'd forget about using any chemcials for it and go a more natural approach, quit fueling it with nutrients and remove what you can by hand.

you can get it online or LFS. I use red slime remover by blue vet. You can also use chemi-clean. Don't know who makes it. Just google it and you should find it. Its around $15 for 400 gallon treatment.

What would be fueling the cayno? I feed once a day, frozen shrimp, they eat it up in about a min less than two. And I use water from a water n' ice store.

I agree about the skimmer to help resolve it, and also using phosphate free water. But if like me I had my 46 gallon up for almost a year and it never went away no matter what I did. When I upgraded to my 75g i got it again and I put the Red Slime remover in it just to keep it from being a problem in the future as I had before. My water params are perfect. I think I have plenty of beneficial bacteria that may be resistant to the Red Slime Remover. It won't hurt anything at all.

If you have a fish only, ok. Use any chemicals to remove a cyano bacteria. If you have LR in your system and it is younger than one year, you will kill also benefical bacteria and your system may or will crash. If you have older system then some benefical bacteria may survive after chemical treatment. I highly recommend to try other ways than using any chemicals. Try first 3days light out and for 4th. day just a actinic light. Control your phosphate. Use of fuge with macro algae is a good help. Add more water flow in the tank. All that may help without using any chemicals.
you can use the slime remover....but the cyno will eventually come back. you re tank is still young its part of the natural cycle...it will go away...stay away from chems. if the cyno does not go away try changing you re light bulbs, look at phosphate levels and make sure you use ro/di water. But right now just wait....if you re tank is only 6 monthes old it is normal and will go away.
