what eats little snails?

I got a bunch of little snails in my tank, was wondering if there's any natural controls that won't bother my softies.

thanks all, i was thinking of getting a wrasse real soon, so that works out well..

i dont' like to manually remove them cause I don't like to kill needlessly.

NicoleC, you're right, I do have algae they like to munch on. it helps with the phosphate too :)

unforntunately, my tank is too small for triggers or puffers (these guys grow big don't they?).

i feel like i have a billion of those lil suckers. cone shaped, and round white ones with brown markings. I suck them of the glass with a turkey baster when i see them but its hard getting them off rocks. ... and thats where mine like to be.. all over every inch of my rocks.. lil buggers

Why don't you like snails? They are beneficial to your tank.

Exactly. Turn the lights on and they drop off the glass and retreat to the rocks. I like 'em. They keep the slime algae under control. I have a gazillion of them in my 12 gallon.

Oh, I don't have a problem with them, it's just that I would like to add something else to the tank and if that something else also helps in controlling the snails (not totally eliminating them) then it's a plus.

Its like with pods, when you have a lot, then it makes sense to add a mandarin.

I'm just trying to balance my tank, my goal is to have a self contained aquarium that only requires top offs and water changes and lights. I'm a long way from there though as I still feed a few days a week.
