take the exacto blade and slowly peel the mat away from the rock. You can then either cut the mat and make smaller frags or peel the whole thing off and then superglue the piece or pieces to a new rock that is not infested with a nasty white sponge. You can also just peel/cut the sponge off. good luck

Dert, use gloves and glasses, we have all heard of people being squirted... I don't want to have to laugh at you for being blinded.

Though it would be pretty funny if it were temporary - if you can't laugh at family...
