I have a 40g breeder with a purple dotty back, purple fire fish,6 line wrass, tomato and maroon clown and a fire angel that disappeared. So this tank is 2-3 month old. Please tell me what are my options. Btw since I have a chocolate chip I don't have corals.

Thanks,

Don't add any more fish IMO. Maybe one more since you'll probably do it anyways LOL. Fish don't just disappear. Your angel died for a reason so seems like there's something wrong and adding more fish would make it worse.

All depends on your filtration setup though.

Lol, he was there one night but next day when I got home he wasn't there. He was very healthy and eating well. I have lots of plants in my DT and as far as filtration I got skimmer 120g rated and 24w UV, HOB filter rated 70g. So let's say I was gonna get that one fish what would it be ?

You are full on fish and should consider taking one of the clownfish back to the store. Different types of clownfish fight as they reach maturity, usually resulting in the death of one. I would pick your favorite clownfish (although IMO I would keep the tomato, maroon clowns get nasty when they get older), take the other to the LFS, and get a mate for the other. I would not add any other fish besides this.

If you water parameters are good, you might be able to keep a cleaner shrimp or coral banded shrimp, although the six-line may dine on it. You can probably keep some hermit crabs as well. Macro algae is about your only other choice of additions.

I agree with switching the maroon. They tend to get very territorial and aggressive, not to mention 6" when mature.

I already have 2 cleaners, 1 fire and one coral banded. But tanks looks empty :(. 6 line is best cuz he keeps to him self and he is really cute. So no other fishes ?

If it was my tank I would not, especially if everything is getting along well. If you are a bit bored with your tank, maybe consider trading in the chocolate chip and getting some corals? If you have the lighting you could try an anemone for your clownfish, but if you do not, you could try leathers, polyps, mushrooms, frogspawn, etc...

Every time I push a boundary, it ends up biting me in the rear, hard. I tend to run my systems a bit conservatively now as a result.

Yes, the tomato and maroon will probably begin the battle as they begin to mature....especially in a 40 gallon. Also the maroon may start to take out some of your other fish. I would say your firefish may be in trouble next.

Also 6 lines have been known to show signs of agression. Or become territorial.

Chocolate belongs to my gf lol cant get rid of the damn thing lol. I already have a anemone and maroon is in there all the time. I have never seen any of them fight other than when tomato goes to the anemone and maroon chases him away, that's it. Right now everything is perfect I think the most aggressive one is the purple dotty back.

Give them time to mature. Alot of people have said it first its fine but once they start growing to full size things change.

How are your water parameters? Any traces of ammonia starting to show up? Are nitrates still low enough to get a reading from the test kit? Besides the issues with aggression mentioned above, your filtration and maintenance determines how many fish you can have. Overdo it and you'll have to do large daily water changes to keep your fish alive. Just slow down and keep an eye on the tank for a while. Let it tell you what's too much.

Everything is 0. Ph at 8.4 salinity 1.025. Plants helping alot with water quality. Ammonia was up for couple but now it's 0. Im maintaining the water condition and keeping it close to perfect. With all these advises Im gonna return the maroon and get a second tomato and wait for few month.

The tomato should be easier to pair than the maroon clown but that's a heavy load for the tank. If it were me I would just get rid of the maroon & instead of another fish go with more corals. You have quite a bit going on for a tank that has not been running very long & make sure to keep up with water changes.
