What equipment do you use in your nano

I guess I'm curious how much hardware people have invested in:

I have 2 x 10 gal and 1 x 20 gal. (2-7 years in continuous service keeping anemone).

All have similar equipment:

20 gal all glass tank
Clear Plexiglass tank cover,
Emperor Aquatics 25 watt UV filter
MR 120 - 165 watt super powerful dimmable LED fixture and diffuser
Marineland C-160 canister filter (160 gal/hr)
ViaAqua - 100 watt submersible heater
Alcohol in glass thermometer (deg. F)
Aquarium Supplies AP20 air pump

Is this minimal or overkill? What equipment do you have?

One of tanks is 6 gallon with only 1 damsel and a couple corals. I keep a HOB filter meant for a 50 gallon tank. I use premium carbon, filter floss, phosphate remover and bio ceramic in mesh bags. I use a LED light that screws directly into the standard aquarium light socket. I do weekly 20% water changes and have it packed with live rock.


I don't think your tank is overkill but i found it neat you had UV.

What equipment do you use in your nano

Always thought I was on the average side with my 20g bowl; Solatube, LEDs, MP20, BM doser, temp control, Genesis ATO/reservoir ATO/auto water changer, skimmer, heaters & return. Will be more when I change the skimmer to an external Skimz, which may make room in the sump for zeovit stuff.

Hentz, I am looking into a reefer 170, can you tell me little more about your setup? What is the reactor for? What do you control with Alex jr? Do you just have the one maspect and the return pump for flow? What did you choose for return pump?

Do you have any pictures you could share?
