What Fish Is This?

Yep.

Keep in mind they are not a good fish for most of us. Nowhere near reef safe, and they grow to somewhere between 12-18 inches.

Just wondering what your definition is of reef safe? Eating coral or eating inverts?

I assume inverts is what was meant

You are right. Eating inverts is part of it.

Eating small fish is part of it too. There are threads here about niger triggers eating clowns, chromis, gobies, and blennies.

They also get huge, are messy eaters, and can sometimes go rogue once they hit a certain size.

There are worse choices for a trigger in a reef, of course. And nigers are probably safe with coral. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it decided to take a bite out of an expensive acro just for the fun of it.

You guys are experienced/knowledgeable enough to make the choice about fish for your tanks, but I would never recommend for a newbie to try a niger trigger in a reef.
