What fish stores are still in Bham?

I was up there a while back but the fish store by the galleria mall was not there ( I forget the name). Did it move or just close? Are there any good places to buy from? I am now in mobile and I have been considering a small tank around 34 to 65g. Only place in Mobile that I know of is B&B and it kinda sucks.

What is a good nano tank to work with? I have seen the Solana name pop up alot but I wouldn't mind something that dumped into a sump below the tank. It will be a softie tank and some smal fish.

Good to know. Now I have an excuse to come up. Is the store still as big or did they downsize?

You have to come through the 'Gump to get to B'ham. Stores here are better than anything left there. My understanding is that Aquarium Designs downsized a ton and is only open a couple of days a week.

Oh - as for nano's, if I were starting one up now, I'd go with one of the new drilled cubes that Marineland (I think) has come out with - I think they are something like 20, 24, and 30" cubes. They have a low-profile overflow down the middle back.
I've owned, played with and worked on many of the other all-in-one nanos and wouldn't recommend any, honestly. With something like these cubes (or any smaller drilled tank), you are free to customize your filtration to whatever you want.

I have been in aquarium designs three times since they moved. They have had the same stuff all 3 times which was pretty much nothing

agree with wpecoul, Montgomery has several places to get nice stuff, Aquarium Fantasies, Atlantis Aquariums and Poseideon Corals.

That is a great suggestion! This is what I had in mind at a good price I think. Plus I think with a cube you can have some creative options that you don't have with rectangle. Now I need to find a dealer.

You know it actually bums me out a bit about the Aquarium Designs shop going from "The LFS" to almost closed.

Does that guy that used to own part of the Rainbow City fish store still do corals? I think his name was Phillip. Some years ago he was going to pursue a large scale coral propagation farm.

Do any of those Montgomery shops sell the Marineland Cube? Is there a must go to store or the three that was listed above the best? Do they have a website I can check out?

Thanks
Larry

Aquarium Fantasies recently had a 18 x 18, but Jim will get what ever you want.
His web site is note a selling site, so you won't see much, but you can go to our club site and see pictures of his store, it is montgomeryreefclub.com.
And by the way we are having our club meeting next Sunday @ 2:00 and you are welcome to come(most of our stuff came from his store). You can join our club and get 10% off all live stock at Aquarium Fantasies(Jim) and Atlantis Aquariums(Dave).

I would rather drive to Aquarium Fantasies than to run around Birmingham tryng to find some decent product. Jim is a nice guy with tons of stuff.

There is one in Hoover called Aquarium Imports the number is 205-979-0840.
They don't have a huge selection but a decent one for salt.

Yes, I plan to make a day trip out of going to Pcola and hitting several of the shops they have there.
