I just returned a pack of float switches back to amazon. They were made from Uxcell. They looked flimsy as heck.

I realized that we drop loads of money into this hobby and it wouldn't make sense for me to be using some flimsy float switches that are prone to fail.

What brand float switches do you guys use?

I'm looking for something that is able to be wired into an Apex breakout box.

Thanks!

I would like to find some high quality switches with long wires. Genesis Renew has some great switches but the wires could be longer, but they do sell extensions.

Are you referring to the back of 5 for $7? I just bought those and used them in my dosing containers. Compared to the ones I got from BRS, they were much beefier and sturdier. I had no problem with the quality.

Yes! Hahah I have no other float switches to compare to. So I was just looking at them and just assumed they were flimsy. If they work for you, I'll order another pack lol! Did you get the uxcell brand? Just to make sure we're talking about the right one lol

Likewise. The ones from Amazon aren't as long. I'd have to solder some extensions and water proof it some how. Ill looking to the genesis. Thanks!

I've been using those Uxcell float valves for couple of years with no issue. I set up ATO with breakout box and emergency float valve also for back up. I have a 100 gal tank and play it safe with a 5 gallon ATO container.

Madison. Amazon sells them.

To water proof you need to use 'Marine' heat shrink tubing. It has an adhesive on the inside that waterproofs the connection. You can buy the marine heat shrink tubing at Home Depot or Harbor frieght. The Harbor Freight version is quite a bit stiffer.

The UXcell float switches work well.

Madison is a higher rated float switch. But I recently discovered an issue with the Madison. Was using the Madison in a salt mix tank. And the design of the arm that the float switch swings on is cup shaped. If you mount the switch so that it floats up to close the connection. then salt collects on the arm, and when the water level comes up the switch can't close.

I'm hoping the solution is to flip the switch 180 degrees and now the switch will float up and open the connection. As for the Apex it just means changing the programming of the switch to watch for 'Open' rather than 'closed'.

Given how quickly the salt collected in the arm of the Madison, I would be a little concerned if you had an application where detritus or algae could collect in the cup of the arm and stop the switch from making contact.

For a topoff container with clean water the Madison shouldn't be an issue.

Is this for ATO? If so, look at the avast ATO system. It works of off pressure as opposed to a float going up or down
