What happend to Turbodx?

His user name was somethin' like turbodx...I think his name was Steve. Havent seen him postin. I'm havin' trouble findin' the thread he had awhile back about making rock pillars. He used some kind of cement. The aquamend works ok for smaller rocks and stuff but I've got some large dry base rocks I'm wanting to make into pillars and need some kind of cement to hold it all together that's safe for aquariums. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

thats it. Didn't someone do a thorite order awhile back or did it get cancelled. I remember this bein a big topic not too long ago and few members was gonna get together and make pillars. I'm wantin' to go ahead and make some pillars and get em curin' because I'm fixin' to set up a new tank.

I've got a bunch of quikcrete quikwall which does the same thing as thorite. c_stowers and I made some pillars a while back. He has them in his new 120. I haven't added mine to my tank yet. The hard part about making them was drilling the holes in the rock. We needed a hammer drill to make any progress.

Jack and I used this quikcrete quikwall to make the pilars in our tank. that stuff sets up very fast we had all 4 pilars built in about and hour. we added in some crushed coral to give it some texture. It grows coraline very well and after just a couple of months you cant even see where we connected the rocks together. by the way if you use an acrylic rod while the cement is still wet and take it out before it compleatly hardens we found you don't have to drill very much. Just a an idea that worked for us.
