What happened here?

GunkGunk

This purple haze monti has been growing real good and encrusting. Yesterday I noticed this though. Seems like a chunk is missing. Nudibranches?

Hard to say with that photo.

Looks likes it's been encrusting for a while. Is there suddenly a reason you suspect nudis? Did you recently add something to your tank that had nudis on it?
Look for whatever it is that is munching on it, at night with the lights out. Could be some kind of crab also.

No no other reason to suspect nudi's. Have only seen pics of them. I did see a hermit right on that spot last night but didn't think they mess with montis. Could a hermit do that?

Just a diamond goby and 2 clowns(true percula). Nerite snails, some hermits, a queen conch( the smooth shelled reef safe kind), and some dwarf florida ceriths

I would inspect that area closely for nudis, especially underneath the lip / edge if there's any space.

I've checked closely around and underneath as best I can and don't see anything. I've been watching regularly too. I'm going to keep an eye on it and see what happens in the next few days.

I don't think nudi damage looks like that. All the polyps would be closed up and the whole coral would look like it was suffering. Maybe you have a little hitchhiker in there you haven't seen yet. probably not but maybe. I found a gorilla crab once that had probably been in my tank forever without me knowing it. I saw his claw one night at a certain angle in a rock, sweeping out and grabbing some food. I was down low looking up because I was messing with my sump and just happened to shine a flashlight at that exact time. Never did get him out. :)
