What happened to my Purple Tang?

Does anybody recognize this?

Fish was still in quarantine, bare bottom with PVC pipe to hide in. Purchased Saturday and looked fine and acted fine until yesterday when I noticed some ich spots. I then started to lower the salinity to treat that.

Tonight, 4 hours ago, he began listing and could not swim. Within the last hour, the fish has died and this large affected area has formed. Seems like his skin just turned pale / clear?

Please advise as I purchased other fish this day and want to take any precautions available.

i've only encountered one thing that resembles your fish - uronema. i've only had it on scaleless fish (seahorses) but it's rather memorable and happens at an alarming rate. this is what it did to a seahorse of mine within 48 hours of purchase. i saw him scratch himself once right before going to bed and when i woke up his entire right side was "gone", i dosed the tank with meds and went to work and when i got back his left side was affected as well. luckily i QT everything so it never got in my display. this fish was the reason i purchased a microscope.
