what happened to my zoas frags??

Hello

I just got some frags from a friend, nice green Zoas, and now they are missing. I had them set up on a rock where I wanted them to grow, now they are gone. I know the fish didn't take them, just some damsels, so that leaves a emeral and a pistol shrimp. I also had some xenia growing and now that's gone too. I need to know what I need to remove from my tank, the pistol or the emeral. I know that when I got some xenia before, it to ended up missing, but then I only had the pistol, so so far he's the one that needs to go. Any ideas of which one may have done this? I also had a frag of some green Zoas, that I set up on a rock, it got knocked down several times, I just left it where it fell and it's ok now, so I'm not worried about it. But the new frags are gone, what's your opinion? WHO NEEDS TO GET THE BOOT?

I'm working on an article to post regarding this topic. I am not an advocate of having any crabs in my tank. They are simply too unpredictable. Some reefers love them and some hate them. The only ones I have are a few blue legs and I even keep a watchful eye on them. I've posted a few helpful links to help you decide. I say remove the Emerald regardless.

Also, often very small frags can get knocked over, carried away by fish and other inverts if a food source if found on a small frag. Kinda like dropping fish food in a tank and one fish grabs a large chunk and swims away to hide/eat it without others trying to take it. The same with birds, dogs, cats etc.

Also keep in mind that a high or oscillating current will knock/blow small frags off your reef in to a hole, crack, crevice etc. In short, the frag could have been consumed or just blown away. I would also buy a red incandescent light and turn it on over your tank about 3 hours after your tank has been completely dark and the room has to be completely dark as well. Just turn on the light and view what is going on long after your lights are off. The fish and corals will not react or scurry away when this light is on. They can't see it.

i have 2 emerald crabs i had to remove one because he was eating my zoos the other one has not bothered my zoos as of yet.

I have a friend that has a pistol shrimp that is a clepto. He steals new frags all of the time. He has lost probably upwards of $100 in small frags. So I am going to have to say that the emerald crad might not be the only thief in the tank.
