What happened?

Last night i noticed that i have a bunch of pink and purple stuff growing on my rock so i got in there with dish soap and started scrubbing it out the next morning i woke up and everything but the crabs was dead does anyone know what has happened to my tank im not sure what happened i cleaned it and they died. and info will be greatly appreciated.
