What happens if different acans grow to touch eachother

I created an "Acan island" I have about 8 different acans of various size & type from 1 heads to 20 heads. They all have plenty of space of a few inches each way at least. So it will be quite a while before they do ever grow to touch, but wondering anyway.

As long as you don't mix different types (lord vs echinata, etc), you should be fine. I think SeaPug has a cool picture of multiple lords merging together.

I believe they are all acan Lords....not positive.

Will they eventually just encrust & spread on the rock?

Is there an easy way to tell the difference?

Oh & the one in the midlle that doesn't look so hot i found like 2 weeks back upside down behind some rock. He was not happy & about all dead. But has slowly started to regrow and appears that he will survive. This was a pic not to long after I placed the corals on the rock too, so many not fully open.
