what in the world is wrong and with my angelfish

What the heck is wrong with my angelfish. His fins are fraying and he's getting patchy looking. The depigmintation looks like stress marks. I caught him and examined what appears to be a wound on the side of its body. To the touch it appears to be meat. He just started eating in my tank 4 days ago and out of quarantine 9 days ago.

His appetite is increasing everyday. And this patch seams to be a wound but I need a second opinion

His discoloration is getting worse everyday but his appetite is getting better. He is in the middle of a blackout period because I'm fighting some algae so that may be stressful

what other fish are in your tank?

Total fish list

7 chromis
1 anthias
1 one spot foxface
1 coral beauty
1 emperor angelfish
1 regel angelfish
1 royal gramma
1 purple tang
1 hippo tang
1 scooter blenny
1 algae blenny
2 clowns

Display is 65" x30" x24"
Rock scape has lots of hiding places

I forgot to mention that I'm feeding him angel formula with sponges

i suck at math. how many gallons? you have a LOT of fish in what seems to be a smallish tank. unless this is a 180g or more, i'm guessing your angel is having the poop beat out of him.

The problem is the original poster is way overstocked and has many fish that should not be mixed in a 90 gallon tank. As such it is impossible to diagnose problems effectively.

The tank is 200 gallons... How the heck did you guys get 90.
The tank is 5.5 feet by 2.5 feet by 2 feet high... The thing is 500 lbs empty, rimless and made of 3/4" glass....

AH! that's my old tank. I should change that, but I did lay out the measurements of the tank in question with the fish list

So you expect us to figure out the gallonage? Why not make life easy for us when you are trying to get help? Provide as much information as possible so we do not have to ask lots of questions.

Why are you so rude with every single post.

Area of swimming room is more imortant than total capable galons. If I fill that tank with 400lbs of rock I guess the gallinage won't matter. Or if the tank was 24x24x84 tall it wouldn't matter either.

I didn't come to this forum to be insulted. Either answer my question or leave me alone.

When I was asked for how many fish I provided measurements and I provided food as well as an idea of rock work.

Couple questions, was he eating in quarantine?

What quarantine protocol was used? Duration, meds applied, and so on.

Have you done a FW dip? When I frayed fins, I typically suspect a fluke type of parasite. Is the fish displaying any heavy breathing?

FWIW, a black out period would probably not stress a fish out, but could effect their coloration.

If it were my fish, I would move it back into the quarantine tank, do a FW dip on the way to rule out any external parasites like flukes and then work on getting him eating and healed up properly.

Hope that was helpful.

the wound could be from fighting with some of the established fish in your main Dt. I'm sure there is aggression from the other angels as well as the purple tang.
also did you treat him for flukes in qt?

I think your Taking things the wrong way. Snorvich isnt trying to be rude, hes just a man of facts and gets straight to the point which can seem like hes being a bit blunt at times. hes definitely one of the guys you want to speak to here if you feel your fish has a parasite/disease. He's got a few sticky's on fish disease's here and was in all honesty probably just trying to find the root of your problem, I.E whether its due to bullying and stress from a certain species, From introducing infected lifestock, Or just feeling cramped and overcrowdedAll of of this can effect the health of your fish, Many fish can survive Injuries and some parasites given good food or a stress free environment. However, overstocking, Or housing incompatible species can lead to stress that comprises your fish's immune system.

The reason Your area of swimming room Isnt more important than total capable gallons in this case is because Snorvich is likely alluding to the fact that you have too many fish for that volume of water Which has nothing to do with swimming room. Its about chemistry, Available oxygen in the water and how quick it gets fouled by its inhabitants.I assure you Most of us here are just trying to help, we just need you to give us the info we need.

30 DAYS, 12 day tank transfer, and i used prazi pro.

no freshwater dip, no heavy breathing, increased appetite.

intent means nothing when the presentation of that intent is wrong
