what inverts eat hair algae on rocks but do not eat snails

I once had my hole tank covered with green hairy algae.
Here are some inverts that will take care of the problem
lightfoot sally crab, seahair ,emerald crab , but some turbo snails would be a good start

thanks i will buy some turbos and look into the others. thanks for replying so fast. it is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
John

From what I have read and heard from multiple owners, sally lightfoot crabs will not keep to their herbivore ways forever. As they grow, they will turn into meat seeking preators.

And it would really depend on the genus and species of the sea hare being considered, not to mention the time of year it has been collected (as some are nearing the end of the life cycle when collected) and the temperature of your tank (as some are collected in temperate waters.)

I have two Sea Hares Dolabella Aricularia in my 120 gallon tank. They turned my tanke from a hairy mess into something very impressive. Of course I've been trying to deal with nitrates and phosphates. These things are worth their weight in gold and I only paid about $20 for each of them.

downside is trying to keep them after the algae is gone. So I'm taking them back to the fish store.

The thing I don't like about Urchins are they are little bull dozers and they do like coraline :eek2:

Jason

that being said they are pretty cool animals

I used to have an urchin collection business and had 24 of them in my tank at the same time. They are very good at moving their spines and are fairly delicate at moving. They can however topple corals and rocks that are on the verge of moving anyway.
