What is a good heater?

I have had a ton of heaters and have no luck with them.

My last one was a WonPro and all it does is heat the water up to 90° + ...

I have had good luck with the smaller 50 watt heaters but need something a little more than that.

I've had a few that I just didn't feel comfortable with so I kept switching. The only other I did like was the theo but saw a good price on the other.
I really like the stealth. (marineland)

Easy-set temperature select dial.
Ensures accuracy to within 1 degree Fahrenheit.
Shatterproof thermal plastic casing.
Protects components against UVs and thermal/mechanical shock.
Has stop/restart overheat protection.
Heater shuts down automatically if left out of water.
50-Watt: for aquariums up to 15 gallons (measures 8.25 inches in length)
100-Watt: for aquariums up to 30 gallons (measures 10 inches in length)
200-Watt: for aquariums up to 55 gallons (measures 13.75 inches in length)
250-Watt: for aquariums up to 75 gallons (measures 15 inches in length)

I bought Jalli titanium heaters that are controllable onlyl....their reputation is pretty solid.

What size would you go with for 240 gallons of water?

Right now the tank has been sitting at 77° before the lights and with the lights it raises up to 80° So I would like to raise the temp 1-2° with out the lights.

I also plan on getting the fans from www.windydayzz.com to put in the back of the canopy to help with heat from the lights.

Go to ebay and search for thermaltake. They have 76 cfm fans at 21 db. Virtually silent and high cfm.

I am going to use 3-500w heaters on the cube and 2-500w heaters on the long tank with Medusa controllers. I would rather have more than enough than not enough...the heaters will add some wattage, but should be able to control the tank temp pretty easily...my basement is always cold in the winter.

I like the Finnex heaters, I run them on my tank. I keep my tank around 79.

This is pretty much the exact same heater as the ones I have...they are titanium and need a controller. I opted for Jalli because I wanted to use the Medusa controllers for their proven track record. I think Finnex offers their own controllers, but I didn't find a lot of information about them when I was buying stuff back then.

I use the via aqua with the remote controller never had a problem so far ( knock on wood )

really good for the price, and titanium to boot
search ebay

The Finnex has a Digital Temp controller in it. So it will shut it off, it also will shut off at 90 for safty.

Do they have the heat censor on them? I don't want to look them up here at work. What do they run in price?

What I liked about that those on the site was there are 2 fans and also have the heat censor.

Heaters have built-in temperature sensors which automatically cuts the power to the heater if it accidentally comes in contact with air. Maintains water temperature within +/-2ºF of the set value providing a safe, healthy, and stable temperature for your tank.

No, I wasn't looking for that since the AC3 controlls that for me. Heat sensors are just little radio shack thingy's(the tech term) that would go inline on the power supply if you need them. The biggest selling factor for me was the noise and cfm. I have 4 of them on the tank.
