What is better then a Remora that will fit in this space?

Hello what is better then a Remora that will fit in a space that is 9.25"W x 12"T x 8"L? Also it would be nice if it could run around $200 and no more. This is going to be for a 20gallon system volume tank and I am keeping SPS.

I have had a Remora, but am not happy with the performance. I took a chance on a ASM G1 but this thing is unbearably noisy and barely fits in this chamber.

I was thinking about doing the Tunze Nano-skimmer when it comes out on the 30th but am not too sure it is better then the remora.

Thanks in advance for any help in this decision!

well i will keep the remora maby rework it maby u did somthin wrong on the set up because mine is amazingly awsome

I have a remora on a 20 as well---but i put a mag3 on it--kicks ***--just raise cup and allow to break in for 2-3 days-cup will fill fast for first week.

Well depends on what your def of awesome is. I do believe that I did all the things that AquaC said to do to keep the skimmer in-line yet to my chagrin it would not perform like it was supposed to. I know people who have almost identical systems to mine and were getting skimmate that I should have been getting. I also have heard from a lot of experts that the Remora is not much for a SPS system.

Anyway I did everything cleaned out the injector, plumbing, collection neck every 2 weeks. I have an ATO so my salinity is not changing. Try to keep my hands out of the tank etc. I even went so far as to use those Aquagloves. But despite all of this I was not even pulling an 1/8th of what my friend were and so I decided to sell it. I now have an ASM G-1, but it is unbearably noisy so now back to the long hard road of looking for a replacement.

Maybe I somehow got a defective one, I did buy it used from someone else so if it was there was no way to return it. That was suggested to me by someone on here who was getting the kind of skimmate I believe I should have been.

Remoras are So/So at best.

All the ASM skimmers I've seen (NW skimmers in general) are almost silent. Sounds like you got a bad pump.

Rich,

Yeah I tried running it just in my 10 gallon quarantine tank too see if that would quiet it down (since it is almost touching the walls of the chamber I have it in my sump), but it still seemed kinda loud. So you think maybe I have a bad pump. Damn! Guess I got ripped off then again.
