What is going on with my anemone?

I have had my color tube anemone for a year and a half now. He would always spend 2-4 hours a day hidden in his sack, the rest of the time he would always be out. For the past two days now he has not come out of his sack. I have not made any changes in the tank, and all the readings are fine. I am not sure if he is dead, however, I do think he is in the sack, and have not seen any arms floating around. Any thoughts?

Not too much you can do. I would leave it alone and watch for any animals picking on it and watch for sudden drops in water quality. If the animals comes back out, I would feed it well. IME, when happy and well fed, these anemones rarely withdraw. BTW, are you an AC/DC fan?

Thanks for the advice. In the year and a half i had him, he usually always went in his tube between 3-5 pm. Not sure why. I do have a snowflake eel in the tank. Soemtimes he hits it with his tail and he goes in but comes right back out. I usually feed the anemone once a week. Thanks for input and any more input you might have. And yes, I am a HUGE AC/DC fan!

With a name like Thunderstruck, I thought so--so am I :D

If you can, try feeding it a bit more often. Do so carefully, but definitely more frequently.

He came back out last night! His arms came out like a ball, and it took him about 45 minutes to unwap them, then i fed him a shrimp and he looked fine. Maybe you can help me with my bubble tip as well. I just got my bubble tip anemone about a month ago. It is my first real anemone. I noticed after i fed my corals some freeze dried cyclops, his tenticles (the bulb tip anemone) deflated and he discharged a brown mucus from his mouth. This is the third time i noticed he had done this. He inflates right after the discharge is done. It usually happens when i feed the tank. Any ideas??? Thanks again

speaking of eels, how reef safe are they??? how well do would they do with gsm's and a copperband? i saw a killer blueline at the lfs....

btw, another AC/DC fan

My snowflake never bothered any of my corals. I have 3 brains, large frogspawn, torch, etc. He does land on the torch soemtime and it will go in for a few minutes, and casues the tube anemone to go into his sack when he hits it. Never anything big though. A few of my friends also have eels in the reef tanks as well. Generally though, I know most discourage it..
AC/DC 4 life!!!
