So for the third time since I have had this pair of Ocellaris, my attempt at getting them to spawn has been thwarted. Up until about two or three days ago they were behaving like they were about to spawn, the agression nest cleaning etc. Then the female and to a smaller degree the male stopped eating. They act like they are hungry and every time I approach the tank they stick their faces out of the water looking for food, however when I put the food in they wont take it. The seem to be acting like they are looking for a specific food item I am no offering. I have offered, frozen bs, frozen mysis, formula one and two, krill, squid, live bs and pellets. The male will pick at all of these ever so slightly and every few days the femal will go after the pellets with gusto but latley they are just acting like I am not giving them something, the nice folks at ORA suggested I try to get my hands on some fish roe. The only stuff I can get though is the little cans of Flying Fish Caviar at $20 a bottle...is it worth it? Any ideas why they are not eating or anything I could try would be greatly apprecited.
