What is growing on my snail?

Any ideas what these are growing on the shell of one of my nassarius snails?

They look like little featherdusters.

Can you catch the snail for a better pic? I can't see very well. My guess would be some sort of algae or polyp, feather dusters would probably break off from all the burrowing around.

I will get a better picture. I did some more digging and found out it is called "snail fur." Here is some info in case other people run into it.
