What is it and how do I get rid of it?

I'm not sure but this looks to me like it may be some sort of sponge growing all over the base of this rock. I wasn't to concerned at first but it's starting to spread pretty good and I even found some on a rock on the other end of the tank. I don't want this stuff taking over so I need a little help.

If anyone knows for sure what it is and how to get rid of it please let me know. If there is something I can put in my tank that would eat it and not my corals that would be great!

Looks like a sponge. Nothing detrimental. I'd let it grow. It may try to compete with your mushrooms at some point, but they'll move.

Well I'm only showing a small patch of the stuff! it's getting pretty agressive on this one rock. and like I said it has shown up on a rock three feet away! I want to get rid of it or at least control it.

Any Ideas?

LOL
Already did that once. When I was cleaning the tank I sucked some of it off the rock and it just grew back faster.

That's what has me worried. Don't want it to turn into a Little Shop of Horrors!

hehehehehe

I believe some starfish eat it. Forgot which ones, I think cass has a hungry starfish who would like some.

you could lower you water quality.

or raise the rock out of the water, or some how blow bobbles into it. Once air is traped in a sponge, it frequently dies.
