What is it?

Yesterday I noticed something in my tank I'd never seen before and was hoping for some help in ID-ing it. I couldn't get a picture to show it very well, so I'll use my good ol 8th grade English to convery the idea:

There seems to be a lot of very fine silvery-white material growing in various places in my tank. Its really only visible when viewed from below and it very translucent. It seems to be growing in long lines along surfaces and the lines have a long fluttery look - almost like a very fine insect wing or the individual veins in a bird's feather. Nothing seems to be eating it. If I can get a picture to show it, I'll post one.

Thanks for any help.

We're gonna need a picture for this one. It could be hydroids, feeding webs created by vermetids, web-like material produced by some snails, the list goes on.
