I have a gold stripe maroon that I have had for five years now by itself in my 75 gal. reef tank, a month ago I bought a smaller gsm a acclimated it with my mature clown. although, the clown I put with it was only about a inch and a half long and the older one is about five inches long, the little one submissed to it and they have been together ever since. Now a month later my bigger clown which would be the female, is acting like never before. She is going down to the sand below her anemone a swishing her tail back and forth making a mess. Could she possibly be wanting too spawn? This is very cool, I know every move that this fish has ever done, and she has never done this before. Thanks for any info!

Sounds like prespawn activity, do you know how old your new male is? I would put a small clay pot where she is spraying sand everywhere or a 4 inch ceramic tile (rough side up) hope this helps----- even if you don't want to actually start raising clowns, it is really cool to see the whole process cradle to the grave
