What is my H. Carpet doing????

The mouth on my H.carpet is turning inside out.Its mouth is red and this white piece (same color as its white base). I received it from a friend after my friend lost his small hippo tang to it 3 days ago.I now have it and have a pair of saddle clowns hosting him. What is it doing?

Not sure what an "H. carpet" is, but I am going to assume that you mean an S. Haddoni. It could be trying to expel the waste after eating the tang, or it could be in serious trouble, really hard to tell. A picture would go a long ways towards helping.

How long was it in your friends tank? What are your current parameters -- with numbers.

I wouldn't give up hope yet, but anytime I have seen a Haddoni in that state, it is the beginning of the end.

i'd wish I could say I've never seen a nem do that, lol. If it was doing ok in your friend's tank I'd start checking your params.

I am not an even an amatuer having kept a haddoni for only about 5 months but be ready to get that carpet out of your tank and do a massive water change and run carbon.
A LFS got a huge carpet in a shipment and put in a 20g tank with old PC lights connected to a common sump.Warned them to return it or move it to a better tank and then again when it started turning inside/out.When it died it nuked 12 tanks connected to the common sump.
Get your water parameters where they should be

Ok...UPDATE!!!!! Looked at it after lights went out last night. It went back to normal. Now I checked it this morning when the lights are on and its back to what the above pic shows. I have it under a 250w DE Mh 20k bulb.My RBTA is and has been doing great,along with my fish and my other 75+ corals. My clowns still hosting it.....I Will keep you all posted.

forgot to tell u guys

^^(continued from my last post,forgot to say) I forgot to tell you guys that this nem has still not connected him self to anything. It was on my buddys front glass and he took it off before bringing it to me. I will ask how he took it off and that may be the issue....is it may have gotten a dameged foot??? Find it odd that he hasnt connected yet.I dug a hole in the sand and stuck him in it.Placed small rocks around the foot/base and replaced the sand around him. I dont know whats up????

What lights was it under at your friends? Did you acclimate it to your lights at all?

Again, how long was it in your friends tank?
What are your water parameters? (( With numbers ))
