I agree. I have found several different colors in my tank. They are always in places that get the least amount of light but pretty good water flow.

This was last located 3" below the water line right below the light.

I moved it to the bottom because it looks like it was getting bleached/dying and then I saw this on it too.

Cant grow GSP.. What??!!??

Yeah... I know...

Don't make such big moves with it. Mine wouldn't grow for a year because it was too shaded. I moved it a few inches out of the corner and about an inch up & it took off. Give it time (weeks) to tell if it's a better spot or not.

Mine was low in the tank (15") and It looked pretty good.. All tenticales out. I put it near the top to increase the light. For a while it was good.. then it stopped coming out.

So I put it back to about the same heigth. Most of th tenticles came out yesterday. havent seen all them in a while.

See that red spot? It is in the back center. I think that is light burn.

OK so...

After 10 days now of being moved from HIGH in the tank to the bottom....

Day 1 everything opened up.

All days since then it is flurshed much better.
I think I put it way to high.

Here are a few pics and a movie too, for those that never really see the polyps up close.

This last pic is right after I moved it to the bottom before it started to open up. You can see what looks like sunburn on the back in the middle. That was the main reason I think I was giving it too much light. Plus it started to not open all the polyps.

I orig started it about 1/2 in the tank.

I did some aquascaping and moved it to the top, about 3-4" from the surface, with the lights another 6". It started to not open up and got that red look on that one section. Almost like it was a sunburn.

I moved it back down 10 days ago and that next day they ALL opened back up and have done so since. Funny.. Didn't think that it was ever too bright for them. But now I have an anemone that wants to take that same spot. It is trying to figure how to get up there.

Mine is at the top, and it grows in the shade, but the polyps are just smaller, but it keeps trucking along, taking over the entire rock...
