What is on this naso?

I saw a naso with these same white specks today at the lfs. Wasn't really sure what it was. Now today on dd I see they have one with the same spots.

That could just be how that fish reacts to stress.

stress, nighttime coloration., sometimes more obvious in smaller specimens...

It's the stressed, startled coloration Nasos will occasionally display.

They can change their coloration rather rapidly from a normal state to a very light grey, white with spots to a very dark, close to black at times. The dark coloration tends to come with aggression or irritation. The Naso lituratus i have stocked has shown both of these changes in coloration.

I agree. My N. vlamingi has all sort of coloration variance depending on his (her) mood.

My Naso gets splotches all the time. First time I saw it in QT I figured it had some bizarre parasite.

Juveniles have that form of coloration as well.
