Not so much, really....

But, rearing fish is pretty much the same as rearing children. Taking them from birth to the point that they're no longer your responsibility.

Andy summed it up pretty well. The details of what's involved in rearing will change according to species. Rearing fish is easier than children. I can rear several hunderd fish and be rid of them all in a couple of months, my teen age kid still needs a few years of rearing
