I'm looking for a good book to read and study. Something that can go as far as setting up a reef aquarium and required equipment.

I would also like a good book that really talks about corals and how to take care of them.

Try not to break my bank

I've found the book, "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Robert M. Fenner to be very informative and a fun read -- some of the things he mentions you'll find a lot of reefers slightly disagree with (for instance, I'm reading that 80° f. seems to be commonplace for reefs) whereas many authors will recommend lower temps.

The book, "Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry, and Natural History" by Eric H. Borneman I recently purchased through Amazon (though have not yet started reading it) was rated very high at Amazon.com and hat a lot of nice reviews.

If you really want some intense, but awesome reading, anything by Julian Sprung is well worth the money spent! And he has books on corals, inverts, and even a paperback page-turner on algae (well.... I found it to be an interesting read).

Scott Michaels has a decent pocket guide to fish that gives a quick reference.... but I find that it undershoots minimum tank sizes at times.... most of the time. However, I have often found that it's a good thing for newbies to have, since you can stick it in a purse or an oversized pocket. This way, you can get a quick heads up on concerns about keeping a particular species of fish, especially if you're at an LFS that you aren't absolutely certain about their knowledge level (or honesty).

The first book I got was the New Marine Aquarium and I found it quite helpful. I later got the Book of Coral propagation and found that to be very helpful when I started keeping coral
