What is Swim bladder damage?

I'm thinking about ordering two Wantanabei Angelfish but LA states that they are susceptible to swim bladder damage. What is that? Is it something that I can treat during QT? Is it contagious to other fish? Also, would any of you guys know why LA rates their care level as difficult?

TIA!

It means they were brought up too quickly from the deep waters they inhabit and the pressure changes damaged the swim bladder. I believe it can be treated by a professional but unless you know what you are doing I would not advise it. I Believe it involves piercing the fish to relieve pressure but I'm likely wrong.

How long do you think it takes for the fish to show signs of swim bladder damage? It seems like it's something that can be detected within a week or at least within the time frame that the vendor has it for.

two reasons:
fish brought up to quickly will act like they have a balloon in their gut.
most divers pin the fish which release the air in bladder. improper pinning might result in infection. fish looks fine till it starts chowing down on foods, bloat or a white patch develops around the gut
