What is that, thats moving?

I am guessing something like a young barnacle..?....

Barnacles are a crustacean that attaches itself to something by its head, then uses its "feet" for filter feeding.

Maybe this one hasnt grown the shell yet.

That's my WAG.

I thought I had seen just about everything but never seen one of those. The ocean never ceases to amaze me.

So, would those be a nuisance if introduced in to our tanks?

That link above states that they feed on hydroids!

I have a hydroid problem & this creature is the first that Ive heard of that feeds on hydroids.

Curious.

I'd like to know the source for her "feeds on hydroids". I find them frequently on hydroids and macroalgaes, but only as a substrate to hang on to, not to eat. They actively catch plankton from the water column.

I'd second your request for a source. I've spent an unfortunate amount of time under a scope watching these guys, and have seen them lick a hydroid clean of diatoms, including the polyp, but never actually feed on it, although that is probably where the association originated. Maybe somewhere out there is a species that feeds on hydroids, but it isn't the norm. I feed my tank with them about once a month, and they never last long, everything seems to eat them!

I guess that wouldn't be too hard to accomplish.
