What is the best anemone

Got a pair of ocelliaris and want to put an anemone they'll actually get into I don't think I have the lighting for a mag but I was thinking of a carpet. Which is the safest one for them. I don't want them to get eaten

What type of lighting do you have? Have you considered upgrading? With a carpet nem, you'll most likely need more light. Your best choice is probably a haddoni, but they are known fish eaters, and are not the natural host of occs. Gigantea will need strong lighting and mertensii are rarely found in the trade.

If you've never had an anemone before, a BTA is a good beginner anemone. When you're comfortable, you can move into other more difficult species -- such as a magnifica or gigantea.

How big is your tank and what kind of light? Do you have a sand bed?
If you have a smaller tank, and adequate light, with a sand bed, consider a H. malu. Of all these anemones, the only natural hosts of Ocellaris are Magnifica, Gigantea and Mertensii. I had a lot of luck with Crispa, Malu, Haddoni hosting Ocellaris.
Gigantea and Magnifica are difficult to keep, the hardest of the anemones while Mersentii are difficult to find. I consider Mersentii the rarest of the host anemones.

I have a 65 gallon tank with 216 watts of t5 HO lights keeping a bubble tip right now just impatient lol and my sand bed also has shells and stuff under it

65 g is a little too small for a Haddoni, if you want to feed it. I would get a H. malu. It would fit perfectly in your tank. He will stay on your sand bed, will not craw around on to your coral, not a danger to fish.

They are not too expensive but many LFS or reefer cannot tell a Malu from a small Crispa. Colorful H. malu can set you back quite a bit.

They don't have a common name. They are all collectively called Seabae anemone which is ueless. You just have to know what you are buying.
Look at pictures and read about them and if need post picture and we can help you ID the animal

I'd go with the BTA. They are great beginner anemones and host many species of clown.

Personally, I like Haddon's. I think they get a bad rep because they are an aggressive species. They do what they do in nature. A fish wanders in ...
