Canon 40D old model vs Canon T1s new model. I have a friend that offer to sell back the Canon 40D with the 28-135 mm lens or I go to buy a brand new T1s with a standard lens. Please give me some advices for this case which camera should get it

Thank you,
Jon

You should hold both and then decide. Check the sticky up top, both are quite capable but I don't care for the control layout on the Rebel line.

Cheers

The Canon 40d is more fix into my hand and the look is more professional than the canon T1s. I concern about the function which one is better function to shoot.
Thanks
Jon

Other than what beerguy said, I would just add that the 40D is a really nice camera. It has a faster continuous drive and better viewfinder. However there is one big feature on the T1i that is worth considering and that is HD video recording. If you don't care for video then the 40D is a good deal if it is the same price as the 500D kit.

As said, if you don't care about video on the T1i (which is crippled without auto focus IMO). Then I would go with the 40D. It's a great camera, most the new software features on the T1i can be done in RAW editing also.

after review and did some homework I decided to go with the Canon 40D. Thanks every body for giving a good suggestion.

I think that a very useful digital photo forum to help choose cameras is dpreview.com. Very helpful users there!

and a lot of equally annoying users that will shout at you if you say anything bad about the camera they use....I just can't post there because it feels like every camera recommendation thread is just a camera model popularity contest

Jon, what made you choose the 40D instead of the 500D? I was actually looking at the 500D because my point-n-shoot Sony isn't giving me the results I want for macro pictures in my tank.

Was there something about the 40D that you liked better? I like having the capability of shooting video, but that wouldn't be a deal breaker. The 40D seems to be more expensive even though it's 2 years old. Thoughts?
