what is the best geographical location to get green chromis from?

I don't know if location matters, but I have heard that Black Axil Chromis (which look basically identical) are less likely to pick each other off over time. I can't say that from experience, only from reading it here or there, but it has convinced me over time that the folks who do note that they are able to keep large groups of them likely have the black axil rather than the blue/green normally seen.

Really? I had heard that you really don't have an issue with the greens killing stuff off. Maybe someone with experience first hand will chime in.

from your response, it sounds like you read I was noting that they killed off something other than other blue/green chromis... What I intended to say is the blue/green will shoal/school for a while in the aquarium. They tend to pick each other off over time..

I kept a school of 5 XXL green chromis for over a year and they were model citizens . The only complaint I had against them was that they eat like pigs.

Green chromis lately have been coming in with urenoma, and dying like flies . But to answer your question- Bali would be the source to avoid.

I would like o have about 8 schooling fish in the tank. But if they are going kill each other, its not worth the money. What schooling fish would you recommend?

I have the same question concerning which variety to buy. It's like buying certain African cichlids species. The location where they are captured can please or displease the eye.

Concerning numbers in a system as large as yours I would buy a bakers dozen after seeing them in person if possible. Unfortunately when I ask about certain varieties of a species no one seems to know.
