What is the best silent, high flow closed loop pump?

Adding a closed loop on a 200+ gallon tank. 4 1" bulkheads are in the bottom of tank. Need a high flow SILENT pump. Any recommendations (looking at blueline velocity or ampmaster 3000 - but maybe something else is better since there would be 0 head?)?

yes, tons of heat, for example. on my system, i have a 75 gal, a 20 gal, and about 40 gals in the sump. i use 2velocity t4's and one mag 9.5. at night, with no lights on, my chillerstill turns on. the system runs about 89f with no lights.... it is such a quiet pump but seriously runs hot. obly about 1200gph as well. u would want the amp master 3k or one of the sequence models, the t4 is not enopugh flow for your tank.

Second the Sequence pumps. Form what I understand they are one of the better-closed loop pumps around.

I have not used the sequence pumps, but I have heard great things about them. You could also consider multiple Iwakis. I use the 30RLXT and it is pretty quiet as everything under the 40 series doesn't have a fan, but it may transfer some heat.

I also have the velocity T4's 1 on my 90G reef & presently 1 on my 240g fo. I am setting up a 300g & I plan on using a T4 for recirc & 1 for closed loop through oceanclear.

FWIW, I have a chiller on both tanks

It sounds like most people like the sequence pump. Custom Aquatic has the WP-MTDART on sale for $179 at -http://www.customaquatic.com/customaquatic/brandcategory.asp?offset=96&brandid=MT&catID=wp.

It looks like a good pump and is already fitted for saltwater. What do you guys think?

Also, I'm not familiar with the oceanclear - is that a pump, filter or both?

Thanks for everyone's help!

I replaced both my Iwaki 55 and 70 with two Sequence Darts.

The Darts are much quieter and have more flow. They are not pressure rated like the Iwakis, but for returns and loops, they are great.

I started with the Iwaki 55 when I was running through two large canister filters on a FW tank.

The only totaly silent pump I have used is the old style QuietOne, which is truly silent. It also puts some heat into the tank. I may use one to run a loop from the sump to my chiller. It only puts out about 500 gph and is not pressure rated.

I had one of the old quiet ones and loved it - until it died. I replaced it with the new quiet one 4000HH and I hate it - it is very noisy!

So, the Sequence Dart seems to be recommended over the ampmaster 3000? On sale it is cheaper - so, that is great!

Those of you who have the Dart - is it really, really quiet (like I won't even hear it in the cabinet?)? The sump is behind a wall. The tank and cabinet sit about a foot away from my desk (so I really need it to be silent).

I have a sequence dart and an ampmaster 3000. Both are quiet and work well. I would not switch one for the other, they are both good.

I have 3 ampmaster 3000's inside my cabinet and I do not notice the noise.Maybe after 3 kids making it to college nothing sounds loud.Dolphin makes an anti vibration pad to place under the pumps. It works.
