What is the best way to get a 300g tank into my home?

I have done all sorts of planning, but just thought about this. My tank will be delivered in 1 week (or dropped off to me at the interstate, lol). Main obstacles in the way are a brick entrance into the home, approx 4ft wide and a typical front door (approx 3 feet wide). The entrance to the room which the aquarium will go is immediately after you enter the front door and is approx 6 ft wide. The tank is 96''x24''x31. The last thing I'd want to do is crack my new tank trying to get it into the house. How do tanks typically arrive? are they in a crate? thanks for your help.

Crated if it's being delivered to you but you will have to take it out of the crate to get it in your house. Get plenty of help. Having people stand around is better than not having enough people.

go to your local fish store, and ask if they could help you out with some guys and you'll pay them back. I wouldnt trust friends since they arent professional movers. The movers will have the suction devices that stick to the tank and makes lifting a little easier.

4 guys no problem. Maybe a dolly with plywood on top if u have room to roll so u don't have to carry as far

Also check with people in your local club, if one is close. I know of about a dozen guys in the three clubs near me that have the suction cup handles and have done plenty of moves. In my area we have lots of HUGE tanks and everyone helps everyone for the most part! Most of the time they pay in beer and pizza!

My lfs sells a lot of large tanks and they use a local moving company for their delivery service. I was able to contact the moving company direct and now my 315g is being delivered directly to them first and then they will bring it to me and into the house. I would definitely look around for professional movers....it will be worth the extra expense.
