what is the most common coral kept with sps ????

i plan on having a mostly sps tank however near the bottom of the tank what type of corals can be kept and do well in contrast with the sps ??? any feed back is much appreciated..

Any LPS that can handle the flow and don't require direct feeding. Zoo's but be careful about invasion. Ricordia.

i have a lot of zoanthids, they don't sting the acros and seem to lose the few battles i have witnessed. i have them in both bright light and shade, and this can make the same type of zoanthid look very different. they are available in lots of colors. i like them.

I keep a few LPS in my display tank which is 98% SPS. I added a few LPS (Hammer & Frog) just to view the flow from the wavebox .

You can try some zoos, but they can grow quickly and reach your sps. I also have some green star polyps

Some of the wild colonies of Sps I have bought have had zoos on the rock, so it leads me to believe this is not too uncommon naturally (these were all deep-water acros). I have a small orange zoo I grow in my sps tank, it grows slowly in intense light and adds some contrast. Here is a pic for the he!! of it .

p.s. If you go this route I recommend finding a single nice one that is known to grow slow. If you pic some big-ol LE browns, you will most likely regret it when it takes over every bare square inch of real-estate.

Avoid leathers, due to alleopathy (tho I admit, I have a sinularia in my tank ).
Avoid anything that grows fast and attaches itself to rockwork (e.g. ric's, zoanthids, etc.).
Watch out for sweepers on LPS!!!!
I like gorgonians, and have had marginal luck with some. They make good tankmates, in that they don't generally grow too fast, don't have sweepers, and like similar conditions (high flow, good light). They are rarely available Captive Raised however, so choose your merchant carefullly. There are some that have done very well for folks in captivity, but you'll have to do some searching to find them. Also be very careful buying unknown species - many are non-photosynthetic, and doomed in captivity. Buyer beware, because the LFS certainly isn't going to tell you not to buy it, if they're selling it.

I placed my sps around the healf way point to the top of the tank. And Hammers around the bottom have of the tank as this gets good lighting but low flow.

you need to have a system capable of handling the large feedings sun polyps require for good growth. it can be done, but i would recommend only on a mature system.
