what is the most silent pump

Nice... thanks! I'll see what I can find when I get home tonight! I re-read that DIY thread I found, and he lists the bearings he bought as R6 ZZ. It looks like this might be a standard number? There was also mention that they need to be "high-speed". When I do a search on eBay, it pulls up a ton of results. I might also give Reeflo a call since I've read that they often will send the 1st seal replacement for free. Maybe I can purchase some bearings from them as well if they're not outrageously priced.

It was going to bug me so I'm checking on NTN's spec sheets....

The R6 stands for inch series (not metric)
The ZZ stands for double shielded
C3 stands for clearance greater than normal
L627 stands for Exxon Polyrex EM grease

Put them all together and you get NTN R6ZZC3/L627

According to NTN's specs that R6ZZ bearing with the polyrex grease in it is good for 31,000 RPM so I think you're safe on the high speed part.

Wow... I'm impressed! I checked out the motor on my pump last night, and I guess I lied about it being AO Smith... I knew they weren't the larger Baldor motors, so I assumed AO Smith. I did a quick search, and it looks like Reeflo used Fasco motors between 2005 & 2007... looks like I bought some old inventory...

That's weird... Any fasco motor I've ever worked with had a part number starting with a "D" in it and not an "M".... Granted I've only worked with a few different models mostly dealing with HVAC fans and blowers, but they've always been a D____ part number....

I would say give Dreisilker (or maybe Grainger, but our company used to buy all Fasco through Dreisilker) a call and see if they can dig anything up on that motor. I'm finding stuff on the U90B1 type, but nothing matching that motor number or the M series listed on it for a P/N...

Id also suggest going to sequence and seeing about seal and bearings, i dont think they murder the pricing too bad....ball bearings are not exacly hi tech and a seal is a piece of rubber . I apparently fell out of the hobby back when the ao smith motors were replacing the baldors and the general consensus was if you have a baldor hang on to it

Go with the jebao dc pumps low energy usage. I have extra dc12000 from last group buy if you want great pumps

Just to update since the information is pertinent to this thread... I took my Dart with the Fasco motor to a local electric motor shop, and they were able to replace the bearings... size R6, just like the Darts with the AO Smith motors. However, they needed to use a press to get the motor apart since the Fascos don't open as easily as the AO Smiths. I'll also update the thread I linked above with more information.

Whatever pump you select, use some ultra flex PVC connecting to your manifold and to the sump. Many pumps operate very quietly, but generate vibrations that travel through the rigid PVC.
